For homemade tortillas, use ground masa mixed with water and a little limestone, flatten the patty with a tortilla press and cook on a hot griddle. The pre-historic molcajete, a classic stone version of the mortar and pestle, is still used today to grind various ingredients for traditional Mexican cooking.
