The Buccaneer is located on the eastern end of St. Croix, less than a five-minute drive from the sightseeing, shopping and dining found in the historic town of Christiansted. This large, luxurious resort has three of the island's best beaches, and the best sports program on St. Croix. National Geographic deems Buck Island, "One of the world's best beaches", as it is the only underwater national park, filled with extensive coral reefs.

General Information

The Buccaneer is a destination beach resort, family-owned and operated since 1948. Its 340 tropical acres feature an 18-hole golf course, eight tennis courts, three beaches, water sports center, full service spa, fitness center, three restaurants, banquet and meeting spaces, and shopping arcade with fine boutiques. 138 spacious, elegant guest rooms are located throughout the property, from the hilltop main building Great House (where Alexander Hamilton lived as a child) to the ocean’s edge, all offering expansive terraces or balconies with sea and island views.

Room Details

The Buccaneer has added different room categories over its 60 year history, nestled into the hillsides and sprinkled along the shoreline. From family suites to beachside luxury, most rooms offer ground-floor convenience and immediate access to the beautiful grounds of the resort. All rooms are designed and furnished to be an intimate retreat, reflecting the timeless elegance of The Buccaneer.
Each room features a private patio or balcony for maximum enjoyment of our spectacular views and cooling breezes. Conveniences include air conditioners, small refrigerators, safes, hair dryers, telephones, satellite television, DVD players, irons and ironing boards, coffee makers, shower/bath tubs, double sinks and ceiling fans. Some rooms have soothing whirlpool tubs. Cribs, roll-aways, and CD players are available. All accommodation categories offer rooms suitable for handicapped guests.

Suite Details

Great House Suites Luxury two-room suites located on the ground floor of the Great House. Each master bedroom features a four-poster king bed with private full bath, walk-in closet, two TVs and an extra-large balcony with spectacular views of the resort grounds and the sea. The separate living room has two day beds and its own full bath, perfect for extra space and privacy.
Family Cottage Suites Located on the hillside between the Great House and the beaches, each suite has a patio that fronts a spacious lawn and sea views, a master bedroom with king bed and twin size window seat bed. A second room has two twin beds. The two bedrooms share one bath. Available for families with children only, offering privacy, convenient location and value.
Frigate Suite A luxury suite located above the Grotto Beach and pool, featuring a master bedroom with four-poster king bed, full bath with double shower and separate tub. The sitting room has two day beds and a half bath. Its spacious patio overlooks the Grotto pool, beach and sea.
Ficus Suite This two-bedroom suite, located above the Grotto beach and pool, features a master bedroom with a four-poster king bed, bath with whirlpool tub and separate shower, and spacious patio overlooking the sea. The second bedroom features two queen beds and a full bath. There is also a small common sitting area.

Restaurants

The Terrace Located in the Great House, The Terrace offers covered, open-air dining with views of the manicured fairways, Caribbean Sea and Christiansted Harbor. A complimentary full breakfast is served to resort guests. Dinner selections feature classical cuisine with Caribbean accents.
The Lounge located in the Great House, provides a relaxing venue for cocktails and light fare. A favorite at sunset, this room is the location for nightly entertainment (seasonally).
The Mermaid is located beach side, with an extensive lunch menu of savory soups, fresh jumbo salads, grilled burgers, fresh fish, chicken, hot dogs, wraps, sandwiches and daily specials. Decadent deserts. There is also a full bar. Open seasonally for dinner.
The Grotto Grill Offers lunches including hot dogs, hamburgers and veggie burgers, served beach side at the Grotto Beach and pool.
Sugar Mill Long a popular site for weddings, and the site of a romantic one-on-one dinner on "The Bachelor," our landmark Sugar Mill is available exclusively for private dinners, whether for a romantic two-some, VIP event or a family dinner. Custom Sugar Mill menus are created especially for your pleasure.
The Brass Parrot located adjacent to The Terrace, is the resort’s air-conditioned banquet and meeting room. A favorite location for wedding receptions as well as the location for its popular winter cabaret evenings, the room offers panoramic views of the sparkling lights of Christiansted. Children’s menus and special preparations are available in all dining areas.

Recreation

Guests receive complimentary use of ocean kayaks, snorkeling gear, floating mats, beach toys and games at our staffed Beach Shacks located on Mermaid and Grotto Beaches. Guests enjoy two pools, one located at the Great House, and one at The Grotto Beach. Tetherball and beachside basketball are also offered. Learn-to-scuba classes are available for guests 10 years old and over. Guests successfully completing this complimentary two-hour sessions may opt for a shallow open water dive either the same day or another day during their stay at extra charge. Stand Up Paddle Boarding is available several times weekly. Lessons are available by appointment and at extra charge. The Buccaneer also offers a fully-stocked tennis pro shop, providing top-of-the-line equipment and stringing services. The Buccaneer also offers cardio clinics and other seasonal clinics are scheduled for guests.

Beach

There is access to three beaches: Mermaid Beach with its “Beach Shack” watersports center and Mermaid restaurant/bar; Grotto Beach with a shoreline pool and Grotto Grill, and Whistle Beach, an over-the-hill beach favored for its privacy.

Golf

The Buccaneer provides a par 70, 18-hole golf course encompassing 5,668 yards with spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea from 13 holes.

Spa

The Hideaway Spa, newly renovated, offers daily massage, facials and foot reflexology, as well as salon services.

Fitness

The fitness center offers complimentary use of treadmills, elliptical machines, recumbent cycles, leg curls, lat rower, bench press, bicept/tricept curl, leg extensions and free weights, 24/7. For outdoor fitness, a meandering two-mile trail that includes par course work-out stations that can be accessed in the early morning and late afternoon hours.

Kids Program

Parents get a break and kids get to have fun at The Buccaneer's complimentary Kids' Camp for 4-12 year olds, from 9:00am to 4:30pm, with beach fun, games, crafts, movies and other age-appropriate activities. Activities vary daily but can include beach and pool games, crab races, treasure hunts, and sand castle building. Arts and crafts, board games, and foosball offered in the Kids Camp room gives our young Buccaneers respite from the heat of the day.
